With the increase in popularity of mobile platforms such as Android and the iPhone, the number of users browsing the Internet by means of a mobile device is on the rise. Approximately 1 out of 5 Americans access the web through their mobile device each day and with the constant evolution of mobile technology, the number continues to climb. This type of demand is driving the need for a mobile websites; it is increasingly more important to ensure your site is not only accessible on mobile devices but user friendly as well.
Upon reviewing the analytics for ucfarena.com, we were impressed by the growth in users accessing the website through a mobile platform. Our analytic reports allowed us to determine the trends to ucfarena.com through a mobile device had increased approximately 30% in just 6 months. Standing strong at 17,000 plus monthly visitors, Designzillas immediately realized the need for UCF Arena to become more unique and accessible for their growing population of mobile users.

Our solution was to create a dynamic, attractive, and interactive mobile web experience for ucfarena.com; including only the elements a mobile user would want and need to access. Our design team was able to leverage JQuery mobile and structure the layout to be fast, effective, and attractive. Leveraging Joomla 1.5 and the custom event management system, the Designzillas team was able to pull in the event listings through the same database to keep all of the maintenance in one central CMS.

The mobile site features navigation for Events, Directions, Box Office, and Contact Information. A mobile user can now browse events, purchase tickets for their events directly through ticketmaster®, view seating charts, call UCF Arena with one click, and map directions easily and from anywhere.

Mobile users will only continue to grow and there is no way around that fact. The key is to make sure you consider and customize your website to be accessed from a mobile platform or risk hindering the experience for your mobile audience and possibly harming your brand.
