User Personas in Web Design

When you think of personas, you may think of a person in the real world or a character from a book. What you may not know is that personas can be applied to web design as well! A persona is a user experience research tool that creates a fictional character to help represent what a real user might actually be like. The persona represents goals, characteristics and inspirations of a real group of particular people. This allows the design team to make a website that will be more accurate and a lot more user friendly!

Coined in 1896, the architects’ credo “form (ever) follows function” has a surprising influence on web aesthetics and architecture. The idea is that a building or product should be designed to suit its primary function, allowing a person to recognize and use the device with an almost instinctive understanding.
