With locations across Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties, Goodwill of Central Florida has been successfully fulfilling its mission of “Building Lives That Work” since 1959. Goodwill provides a variety of services to take advantage of, including job training, ESOL classes, youth programs, veterans assistance, finance seminars, and many other helpful services. This community-centric organization also offers a variety of ways to make a donation, volunteer or shop—all for the greater purpose of helping the Central Florida community thrive.
THE CHALLENGE
When Goodwill of Central Florida came to the DZ team, they came with a goal to elevate the Goodwill brand by a being leader in providing a relevant and authentic online experience through their website design. Some of their main goals for the site included: finding ways to make users aware of all Goodwill’s available services (not just the drop-off donation centers), attracting more millennials to their site, and showcasing everything in a modern, clean design.
They also emphasized the importance of providing a great user experience—something that lacked with their previous site, as users often got lost in a sea of information.
THE APPROACH
Keeping Goodwill’s mission and branding in mind, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. Our digital creative team started with mobile, determining the essential pages needed for a great mobile experience and then building out the remainder of the site from there. This allowed for the elimination of unnecessary content, ensuring users could clearly find what they’re looking for without digging through content they’re not.
We also used a more simplified color palette, with more use of white space, higher-quality photography and high-definition video to accent the content.

FROM CONCEPT TO REALITY
With a well-established name in non-profit, Goodwill Industries of Central Florida knew what it needed to take its digital presence to the next level: a new website. But they also knew it couldn’t just be pretty to look at—it needed to be user-centric and organized to best showcase all the services Goodwill has to offer that many don’t know about.
Built in WordPress, their new website is now a digital brochure of everything Goodwill has to offer, from ways to donate and volunteer, to job training services and more. The navigation flow was completely restructured to highlight these main services and includes gravity forms to replace off-site forms, creating a more cohesive experience. And with an improved admin experience, the site isn't just better for users—it also helps the Goodwill team add new pages to the site’s modular layout with ease and convenience.
With this digital makeover, Goodwill Industries of Central Florida can now serve its online visitors as effectively as it does for those in the local community.
